Sennheiser PXC300 Noise reduction headphones April 23, 2010 Mr. Nigel G. Gardener (The UK) Excellent product and lives up to what is said about them...did notice that audio books seem to be slightly swamped out by the noise technology. Easy to use and very good value.
Jon Staton March 22, 2010 Koala (UK) Sound from my Ipod source was good, although when noise reduction was switched on, there was a tiny buzz which was audible during very quiet bits of music when you were listening in a quiet room. The separate noise reduction device is a bit of a pain as it keeps falling off your knee or wherever you put it in the confines of a plane or train. Because of the separate unit, the headphones are light and very comfortable. Build quality is good. Sound reduction is quite good and allows you to drop the volume and still hear the music, saving your ears from too many damaging decibels. In summary they are good value for money and I would recommend them for a plane or train or back of a car but not if you intend to go walking or jogging. I think you would have to spend a lot of money to get better sound quality.
Excellent March 6, 2010 Conor Roche (UK) Excellent product and work really well. Only minus is the bulkiness of the noise cancelling unit. Overall though, very pleased.
Light, compact very effective against engine noise February 21, 2010 Kit (UK) I bought these after watching side by side tests on You Tube. Sennheisers always seem to perform better than competitors.
I have found them excellent. On long haul flights from UK to the Pacific they cut down the engine noise to an amazing extent - pretty much totally. As a guide, I had the plane entertainment system and my iPod on at about 50% volume and could hear clearly.
Pro's:
- Compact on your head
- Compact in their case, fold away very small in your hand luggage
- Very effective noise cancellation on the LOWER frequencies
- Very good sound quality
Con's:
- The battery tube / control is a total nuisance. Fine if you clip on your belt - otherwise catches and gets in the way.
Lightweight, compact and musical. January 30, 2010 Music Lover (Chicago, USA) These are great headphones for travel. The sound is wonderfully clear and transparent with punchy bass. I have had these 'phones for some time now so I feel confident in my judgment of them. For me, they represent an ideal compromise between the expensive and bulky Bose QC's and the smaller earbud type devices. They are large enough to be comfortable and offer excellent sound quality. On the other hand, they are small enough to be easily transportable and you don't look like Mickey Mouse when you are wearing them. Their hinged construction is surprisingly sturdy and durable. The ear cushions are soft and comfortable. Battery life is good. The pen-like battery container is a bit of a nuisance sometimes, but not enough to deter purchase of these 'phones for their musical value. The switchable noise cancellation really does make a huge difference. I use these 'phones mainly on long-haul flights and they effectively reduce ambient noise considerably as well as being comfortable to wear for quite long periods. Mine are a few years old now, and still going strong. Highly recommended.
