HP Customer Service killed the deal August 18, 2010 J. Birkett (Kansas City) I found the computer to be pretty fast and was happy with the purchase. Then one of the fans started clicking. I thought this was a bit annoying at times, but it was just intermittent. The clicking continued to increase in both frequency and in volume. I opened the case to see where the noise was coming from and discovered that it was originating from the graphics card.
I went to HP's site and discovered that there was a recall for the graphics card for exactly the reason I was having. I contacted HP and they responded quickly and acknowledged that my computer was still under warranty. They did ask me to remove and re-seat the graphics card to see if that fixed the problem. It did not fix the problem. Their next email told me that tech support would contact me to get me set up for a replacement part.
Three weeks passed and I had not heard from their tech support and the noise was getting so much worse. I contacted HP again and was told that they had attempted contact (no incoming on my phone and no voicemails). They sent my complaint back to tech support and they left me a voicemail in a few days.
When I returned the call, I expected "Hi, let me verify your shipping information and we'll get the part right out to you." This is not what I got. I was transferred and on hold intermittently while a variety of people verified information in a simple one line complaint. This continued for an hour and 24 minutes. Finally, I got someone who told me that they needed my credit card number.
I don't know about you, but after going through this, I wasn't entirely compliant with the whole give up my credit card number game. Look forward to my Dell replacements for my HP Desktop, HP Laptop, and my two HP Color Laserjet printers. Then you will fine all of my HP items cheap on ebay.
Minor problems but nothing major. May 23, 2010 La Brea I bought this computer about a year ago. The hard disk failed after the first 10 weeks. HP replaced the hard disk free of charge. A few weeks later I received an email from HP that there was a problem with the cooling fan on some of the video cards installed on this model. The video card was replaced free of charge. Sometimes it will not come out of the sleep mode without a hard restart. Part of the problem may be the Vista operating system. I give it 5 stars anyway because it's just a machine and I've owned Apple, Toshiba, Dell, Compaq, IBM and they all have their problems.
TERRIBLE COMPUTER May 7, 2010 Maria M. De Travaglini (Vzla) I`ve had this computer for 4 months and it is not working, I'm from Venezuela and i bought this computer because it was supposed to have an international warranty, so when i called the HP customer service they say that the warranty it is not valid if I'm not in the US because it is a home PC. I went to HP technical support office here and they refused to even take a look at it they told me that it was probably the motherboard and on top of that they told me that these computers were defective. If you are planning on buying this computer, forget about it!!
HORRIBLE COMPUTER! March 12, 2010 HP FLAME (BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, US) If your looking for a powerful unit, this baby is not for you! i've had this computer for over 6 months and it has been giving me problems since the first month. i have called HP numerous times telling them the computer is defective and that i wanted a refund but according to their rule book we are only allowed a refund after 3 repairs. For the past 7 months i have been fighting off the bombardment of hp stupidity. i tell the technicians theres something wrong with my motherboard and what do they do? REPLACE THE RAM. they have replaced the motherboard, the ram 2x times, graphics card and reloaded the hard drive. and this was not done in a course of one repair session but over 3 sessions. In spite of all the drama HP gave me in the end i was given my refund. SMH worst computer ever.
don't buy an HP PC February 24, 2010 Richard L. Pyatt (fairfax, VA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Had for 1 year and 4 months and died. After spending several hundred to fix, I had to get another PC. Bet its not an HP. HP doesn't stand behind product. Several people I know have had similar problems. If you decide to buy, Get the best warranty you can get. HP tech recommended I buy a slightly cheaper model and put the rest into the warranty. Not a pleasant experience.
