With the old battery, my laptop froze even while plugged into house current. The problem went away with the new battery.

I purchased this battery because I wanted a new, genuine Lenovo battery for my ThinkPad T61 to replace a failing original battery. But not every seller of this item may be selling new, genuine Lenovo.
The battery I received -- while having a Lenovo label on it -- led ThinkPad's Power Manager software to report: "The battery installed in this computer is not a genuine Lenovo battery and may not meet Lenovo's safety and quality standards." The battery did not come with the usual Lenovo documentation or in standard Lenovo packaging.
It also had been on the shelf for several months before I received it, showing a manufacturing date of early 11/09; I received it 4/10, five months later.
I suspect the battery I received was re-manufactured, or had new cells, in a Lenovo battery shell (which also had a different Lenovo part number than the one listed here). I've returned it to Amazon as it's not what was represented. The seller I bought it from (fulfilled by Amazon) is, at least as I write this, no longer listed as an option for purchasing this item new.
It's worth checking ThinkPad's Power Manager after you receive the battery to make sure it's what you expect. A true Lenovo accessory battery also comes in a box labeled "PC Options" (Lenovo's accessory brand) with the part number 40Y6799 on the PC Options bar code label. Inside, there should be a Lenovo battery warranty flier with the battery. That's what arrived after I purchased a replacement from a different seller elsewhere.

This "Thinkpad T60 Series 6-Cell Battery" is not "by Lenovo" as represented. It is not fully compatable with this laptop and raises some concern on my part.
