bait and switch July 29, 2010 Kelly Sibla (Amherst, Ohio USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered what I thought was the new A+ book. The book sent to me was NOT the book this seller listed in his ad. His ad clearly listed the book as being for exams 220-701. He sent be a book for the exams which were over 10 years ago. I feel this was a bait and switch so he could get rid of old junk. I emailed the seller and was told I would be given a refund. I have never received the refund. Why would anybody need a book for exams which were retired many years ago. Shame on this seller for selling me junk and keeping my money. This seller misrepresented this product as something it was not. Not Nice. I hope karma gets him.
CompTIA A+ Certification Book July 26, 2010 Taylor Rushing (BEECH BLUFF, TN, US) The book was well written with good technical information and written in a way so you could understand what was being taught.
Excellent July 22, 2010 bterrier (NC) I had an old copy of this book (9 years old) and was afraid to order this updated one, worrying that there would not be much new or that the concepts had not changed much. However, the updated copy is well worth it. He covers the advances over the last decade very thoroughly and brings me pretty much up to date with building, maintaining and troubleshooting my machines. I am very glad I got it.
An Excellent Resource for Studying July 21, 2010 Andrew Hallmark (CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
To put it simply this is probably the most dynamic and interesting text-book I have
read in ages. Most texts use the format of dry facts and statistics while dragging
out the source material for what seems like forever. Mike has that unique writer's gift
of taking a relatively dry subject and making it fun and interesting to read. I love
the format he uses of starting with the broad history and moving into the factoids
all without losing his humorous touch. Using this book and a few practice tests from CompTIA's
own website, I was able to pass the test on my first try after about a month of study.
This was a great resource for study and I only have two small complaints.
1. The practice tests included on the CD do not have enough questions. This means that after
you take it once or twice you will have seen all the questions and it goes from being
a good gauge of your progress to just memorizing the correct answers.
2. The book does not cover VoIP in enough detail to satisfy the questions that will probably be on the
exam. So you will have to do a bit of extra research into VoIP to get up to speed on the topic.
Overall this is an excellent all-in-one guide that will help you towards achieving A+ certification.
If you want to get lifetime certification you better start now, because come January 1st
your certification will switch to only being good for 3 years if you don't get it before 2011.
THIS BOOK IS PERFECT July 17, 2010 EMEM UMOH I BOUGHT THIS BOOK WITH HIGH HOPE, AND WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED. I TOOK THE 220-701 AND 220-702 IN ONE DAY AND PASS BOTH!!
