The Mouse Of Your Dreams July 26, 2010 Greg Lauver (Pennsylvania, USA) So I went from a Logitech Trackman Marble Mouse to this beast and I am very happy with what I recieved, as I should be for the rather crazy price.
When you get it of course you're very excited, but to boost the excitement even more the case looks like you just bought a rare ruby worth[...]. You'll see the mouse mounted in this plastic "presentation" box. All the manuals are tucked away conveniently inside. So, as far as packaging goes, amazing. Touches like that are what make you feel like you got your money's worth.
So you start to unpackage it and it's.....easy. You get a stellar USB cord (gold-plated USB, as advertised, as well as a special cord designed to withstand some kind of torrential storm possibly), a charging dock, and obviously the mouse. Let's cover the mouse first:
The design is beautiful. It's got a kick butt design, it's comfortable, and it's got enough buttons. Not too many, if you count your sensitivity adjustment buttons you get 4 programmable buttons...I have yet to program any of them because I simply haven't had the need. I do, however, switch sensitivites on the fly rather often, as it's helpful in games when you go from a sniper (low DPI for super accuracy) to an assault dude (high DPI for quick, accurate movements). All the buttons have a very nice click about them and DON'T feel as if they are going to fail in the next many years. The glowing scroll wheel in the middle is beautiful! I love it, adds another touch. The battery lasts a loooong time on a full charge (days). I tend to place it on charge whenever I'm not using it, so I have yet for it to run out of juice. So the mouse is brilliant...
On to the dock. It's cool, it's small, and it's flashy. Not really a whole lot to say about it. The USB cable provided can either plug into the base or the mouse. Here's a downside, however, IF for some random reason you plug the cord into the mouse it adds A LOT of resistence to the mouse, being designed as it is. With this type of mouse, resistence isn't a good thing. The dock also acts as the wireless receiver, so if you're wondering how the mouse communicates wirelessly with your PC, it's the dock.
My only complaint would have to be the software it comes with. Don't get me wrong, it's good, powerful software, but it.....is......sllllooooowwww!! Better make sure you make all your changes before clicking "ok" or "apply", because after that sit back and relax.... I believe this is because the dock is sending a file to the mouse (the mouse does have onboard memory, after all) that includes all of the changes and apparently that takes a while.
Overall, definitely a 5 star product. It's elegant and works like no other mouse.
Not Wireless on a Laptop July 20, 2010 Mary E. Akins 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Mouse is not wired to the Laptop. The docking port/Tuner has to be wired to the Laptop for the Mouse to operate. So how can this be considerd wireless because A Wire is still connected to my Laptop and a wire is a wire no matter what is hooked to it.
It is a good gaming mouse but it's not made for big hands July 3, 2010 Zeality (Roswell NM USA) My hands are pretty big and my thumb doesn't fit well underneath the two side buttons so consequently I keep pushing them unintentionally and that is frustrating as hell. Other than that I like it.
One of the best gaming mouse! June 17, 2010 Bartz92 (San Diego, CA) This mouse is very comfortable to use, I do much better in BFBC2 with this mouse than my old crappy one. The battery doesn't last that long but you can just charge it overnight or put it on the dock when you're not using it. I don't regret buying this at all and well worth my money.
Razer Mamba Review May 29, 2010 A. J. Fergusson The first gaming mouse i owned was the Logitech MX518.The MX518 was a great mouse but the cord annoyed me i could feel it pulling the mouse so I decided it was time for an upgrade.
Enter the Razer Mamba.
I had read that wireless mice lag and are no use for gaming so i was skeptical about how well the Mamba would handle off the cord, after using it playing a FPS MMO game called Wolfteam [...] for about an hour I can conclude that this mouse does not lag in fact it does far better than the MX158 in every way. If you use a palm grip then this is the mouse for you, it is extremely comfortable. The software is a let down as it is slow and i found that after programing something and saving it the mouse lost its connection.
I highly recomend this mouse.
