Product Description Safeguard your lens and absorb UV light. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are. This often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially shots from high altitudes and long distances, particularly over water. Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of UV absorption levels. Reduces excessive blue by absorbing almost three quarters of UV light. Best general purpose UV control Eliminates UV problems from most situations where increased haze tends to wash out color and image clarity Protects your camera or camcorder lens against dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage Can be kept on your camera at all times
Amazon.com Product Description Protects lenses from dust, moisture, scratches, and other damage. These filters can be kept on the camera at all times.

Great product September 5, 2010 Scott E. Thompson (FL) Tiffen is a great company for getting a camera lens, will buy this brand again.
You get what you pay for August 30, 2010 Christopher Beaugrand (American Canyon, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am comparing this with an multi-coated UV filter that is twice the price, and the difference is evident. This is not a bad filter by any means, but if you have a good lens, you owe it to yourself to get a better filter - you'll see the difference.
SAVED MY LENS August 30, 2010 Nicolas C. Petraglia As the title states this lens saved my lens. I put UV filters on all my lenses more for protection than anything. I had an incident where I picked up my camera the wrong way, and well it dropped. Fell right on the filter, which if it wasn't there instead of costing me the less than $15 this lens cost me, I would have had to replace a $400 lens. The lens is in perfect working condition.
As for picture quality of it, really it's just a matter of ensuring you clean it ever so often (hot water and/or lens cleaner).
Basic filter August 22, 2010 Sabi (Singer Island, FL) No optical problems and mechanically sound. No loosening of the retaining ring, as with some filters. Only issue is that I wish it were thinner.
Great against drops August 21, 2010 Gui Ambros (Miami, FL) Brought it mostly to protect my expensive Canon L lens. My wife dropped the camera this week and broke the filter, but not a single scratch to the lens. Worked exactly as expected :) Wouldn't recommend dropping your camera just to test the filter, but if it happens, there's a good chance your lens will survive.
Also didn't see any chromatic alterations after using the filter. So far photos and colors are true to original.
